The kids watched a silly cartoon about a boy/creature that made up a holiday for January, since it was such a depressing month. I thought it was a great idea. At first, the kids wanted to copy elements of the cartoon holiday, but then we branched off, and made it up ourselves.
The kids named it "Chumple Day." The BYU elf I got at a post-Christmas sale moves around and watches the kids. (Although we weren't too consistent with the moving. He just sat around.) Smee comes on Chumple's Eve and puts a small gift through the cat door. The big thing is, that we go out of town somewhere over night and do fun things. That was my idea.
So, for the first annual Chumple Day, we stayed at a hotel near Gateway, so we could use our SLC Pass to go to the children's museum and Clark Planetarium. It was tricky getting our pass set up, so I think the day lost some of its magic for John. But it ended up being really fun! John took the pictures, and I can't find them. They'll come soon.
On the way home, we tried to go to a tepanyaki-style restaurant, but the wait was too long, so we went to Joe's Crab Shack. It's not my favorite, but the boys loved it.
