The Kinfolk are Comin'

My mom and my sister, Lisa, came to visit the week of Spring Break. It was heaven. We visited Church history sites, Corning Glass Museum, etc. One night during their visit, I noticed that I just felt happy, and I got thinking that the wonderful thing about family - and maybe a mom specifically - is that she/they see you in the most positive light possible. And they love and admire your kids. I love living here so much, but.....being around extended family is really addictive.
At the Smith home in Palmyra.
In the Sacred Grove. Not being very reverent.
At the Hill Cumorah visitor's center. (I promise the missionary told them to sit there for the photo.)
Rolling down Hill Cumorah. Eli got sick in the van afterward. Which nearly made Lisa sick.
At the Grandin Press building where the first Book of Mormons were printed. This was the best missionary guide we've ever had.

Lisa wanted to go to our zoo with a big wolf display. Unfortunately, it was closed that day. So we went to the Discovery Center next to it.

Mom and Lisa were good luck for us at Corning! They occasionally choose a child's design to make into a glass figurine. The kids always try it when we go, but they've never been chosen. This time, they chose Eli's drawing of a bald eagle!!

This looks a lot like Eli's drawing. It was so fun to hear his name announced over the loudspeaker beforehand, and then to watch the guy make it. He kept asking Eli if it looked right. I'd never seen them do a colored glass figurine before, so that was especially cool.
Again, whenever we go, the kids always want to be early to this demonstration so they can sit in the front and get chosen to be the helper (and receive a glass figurine at the end). They've never been picked - until this time! Jonah got to break lots of glass and then got a little hand-blown elephant.

I hope that more family will come visit, and that Mom and Lisa will come again soon!
