Random things about my cute kids

Here are a few random things from the last couple of days.

Eli and Tori were playing "Mom and Dad" yesterday. Eli would say, "Come on let's go for a walk," and he would push the baby in the stroller. Tori always wants to pretend they're walking to the "Halloween house " (a home near us that had a yard full of inflatable decorations). I love to listen in as they do pretend play. Once Eli realized I was watching him act out something, and said in an embarrassed voice, "Mom, this wasn't a show."

Last night, I taught a family home evening lesson about temples. At the end, I asked Tori if she wanted to go to the temple someday. She said, "No," in a happy little unconcerned voice. I showed some of the pictures again and said, "Would you like to go to this pretty temple, or this one?" and she just kept saying, "No, no." We're just not reaching her. :)

The cat was under the coffee table last night, and I heard Tori saying, "Be brave, Kitty." I asked her what the kitty should be brave about, and she said, "The pear was going to get him," and she was holding a plastic pear. So, essentially, she was about to bonk or push the poor cat with a pear, and was telling it in advance to be brave. Our poor cat.

I have been checking around to see which kindergarten teacher I should request for Eli. It is funny, because I keep getting completely different responses from my friends, based on the personality of their children. I guess I just need to decide which teacher's description sounds like the best fit for Eli, and pray hard. Assuming that they'll listen to my request. I was looking at the year-round schedule, and I think I'll like it. They have three weeks off pretty frequently, it seems like.

Early this morning, Eli came in crying and asking when I was going to die. I have been trying to be upbeat about the idea of death when he asks questions, telling him that it's such a happy place, etc. I told him I wasn't going to die, but I guess you can't promise that. It's a hard thing to reassure a child about.

I had Jonah cry it out last night, and it didn't take too long. We'll try it again this evening. I hate doing that. What breaks my heart most is hearing the ragged breathing afterward.

We have been doing a clean-up with the kids every night. I got some really good stickers, and they get to put one on their chart each night. When they get six, they get to pick a prize. It has been going really well. They got prizes last night that they were quite excited about.
