Trip to St George

The mountain biking state championship races were held in St George this year. John's sister, Jessie, offered to let us stay with her in Hurricane, so we started making plans. We stayed with Clara and John's parents in Richfield on the way there and back, which broke up the drive.

The race was very exciting, and Eli did extremely well. He raced Friday morning, so then the pressure was off, and we could enjoy time with family, and beautiful scenery.
Waiting near the staging area.

After the race, we ate at Hu Hot, a Mongolian barbeque place. We only had to eat out once on the trip, since family fed us so well and often!

We hiked around Red Cliff the first afternoon. That had been our favorite spot when we went to St. George for John's conference two years earlier.

The next morning, we went back to the race course to watch Abe. It was fun to see him, and to cheer with Mike and some of his kids. Afterward, we spent a little time with them at Pioneer Park:

After a quick lunch, we headed out to Zion Nat. Park with Jessie, Wiley, Colt, and his twin daughters. It was gorgeous! We enjoyed the scenery from the shuttle and then hiked a trail at the end of the route. (I can't remember the trail name - King something.)

While there, we celebrated Maggie's 9th birthday! She opened a couple of gifts in the car before Abe's race:

Jessie made homemade pumpkin pie for her birthday at lunch. She opened the rest of her gifts back with Clara and Roma that evening, and they had dinner and dessert for us there.

I hope she had a fun day. She is so happy and fun! On her birthday wish list, she wrote some gift ideas, and then put, "You can get me anything, yes, I said ANYTHING!" She's definitely my easiest child to shop for. She also made a chain and a countdown chart long before her birthday. She is always enthusiatic (and helpful, affectionate, smart, etc.) Love her!
