This and That

These are some pictures I liked that didn't warrant posts of their own. Poor things.

Lately, I've just been feeling like.... life is good. I tell John that I have "a sense of well-being." And it's the little things that make up the whole. Things like Maggie's funny poses, trips to the library, and homemade muffins.
These princesses were at our library, and Maggie wanted a picture with them.

Tori likes to check out cookbooks from the library and try out dessert recipes like this one.  (You can also see the horrible state of limbo we were in for a while - with purple walls and no countertops.)
Here's Maggie helping me make pumpkin muffins. I'm quite pleased with my healthy, whole-wheat recipes.
My friend, Becca, and I exchange babysitting sometimes. These are her sweet boys, James and William. My kids adore them.

Not long after we moved here, I heard a local radio ad for a new K-12 charter school being built in Vernal. I went home and immediately put my kids in the school lottery. In February, I went to an informational meeting where they talked about their reverse lottery system: they would select the older kids first, and then their younger siblings would have priority. They said that based on the applications, the lower grades were already filled. Eli is going into 7th grade, and I wasn't sure if he would be in line soon enough to get the others in. The website said that they reserved spots for the kids of teachers, so I decided then and there to apply for a position. Truthfully, I hadn't been sure that I would ever go back to teaching, so that was huge. But then, I've always been very impulsive. I make most big decisions that way.

So, the school is nearly completed and I'm working on my lesson plans. It's crazy, but exciting!

I took these pictures of the early construction. (I thought we might like to see them later.)
