Jonah's Big Day(s)

Happy birthday to my sweet Jonah! We had a fun, crazy week with this boy. First, John called the day before Jonah's birthday and said he couldn't get out of his Young Men's activity at church the following night, and wondered if we could celebrate then (the same night). I had a couple of hours to pull together a family party. So I whipped a cake in the oven and cut up pizza ingredients. I had to frost the cake warm, so you can see it puddling at the bottom. It all turned out well. We opened the present below that night and his other gift the next morning, to make his actual birthday seem special too. (Because I love to brag about my bargains, I got the Lego set below from a guy on Craigslist for a fraction of what it cost new.)

Yesterday, we had Jonah's friend party. (This is the first one we've had since moving here.) We had both school and church friends come. It would have been crazy, but I had so much help! Anyway, here are the pictures:
The table decorations before we put the Lego centerpiece.
And after.
They had to guess how many Legos were in the jar to win the Mixel.
Lego bingo before everyone had arrived.
Their creations. (I bought the candy eyes the day before because of the boys' begging. I felt like I had enough toppings. But they were the best thing. Everyone then used the other things to make faces and get really creative.)
Tori and I made the chocolate Legos to the side there for the bingo prizes, but then it seemed too messy to just pass out during the game.
I had planned to do the cupcakes in shifts, but we ended up just letting kids crowd around the tables.
Decorating the bags for the treasure hunt.
The treasure hunt. (We did have the front yard mowed. :)
Finding another item.
Jonah opening his presents.

Jonah is a delight to have around. He is genuinely funny and cracks us up all the time. He is loving, cuddly and enthusiastic. He does very well at school. I am so grateful he's ours!

Marnie, You are so incredibly creative! What a fun, fun party. The big Lego set is amazing, and all the games and cupcake decorating look so fun too. I'm sure Jonah had a great party . We need you back in Utah to be a party planner for us!
