My Baby's Birthday

Jonah had his first birthday yesterday. We had his party with family on Sunday. He had kind of a car/plane theme with light blue and red. We had my mom and dad, Dave, and Lisa and Kimberly and their families there. It was fun. They were gracious about letting Jonah dig into a portion of the big cake.

I was willing to do something fun with Jonah yesterday, like the zoo or a playground, but the weather was cold and rainy. Instead, we just went to a store and let the kids pick out a cake. (Eli and Tori love looking at the cakes at grocery and warehouse stores.) They picked an odd Scooby Doo cake and cupcake assortment. We also went to ToysRUs to look for a playhouse of some sort to put in the backyard. That will be part of all of the kids' birthdays. I didn't find a sure winner, so we'll keep looking. When John got home last night, we had dinner, opened presents, ate the cake, and then watched a show with popcorn. It was a fun evening. Oh, we also videotaped a fair amount, since all of the kids were performing well. Jonah danced and ran around with his push car, Eli read a book and Tori did Power Ranger and ballerina moves.

It has been a great year with Jonah. (I can't believe it has been a full year!) His new words are uh-uh/mm-mm, ball, and balloon ("boon"). He also yells "E-li-jah!" and makes fish and kissing noises which are interchangeable. His birthday is the same day as Mike and Nancy's Penny, and I'm hoping that we can have them here to do a joint party next year! Here are some birthday pictures:
Tori went to a party for a little girl at church who turned one also. It was the most extravagant child party I have ever seen. I was glad Jonah wasn't old enough to notice the difference! Anyway, the little girl had a princess theme, and all of the girls were asked to wear princess outfits. I'll include a couple of pictures of that.
