Independence Day in North Ogden

We joined my family for the 4th of July parade and the lunch afterward. It was really fun, but we missed John. He had to work so that he could take time off soon after for Bear Lake and our trip to Minnesota. So that evening, we hurried back, so we could see the fireworks with him. I'm so grateful for the sacrifices he makes for us! Anyway, here's the parade:

Oh, I have to tell my funny story! Anders was not in the mood to be at the parade, so he was sitting near the curb looking sad. When the parade started, a piece of candy landed by his feet, and he picked it up and threw it angrily back. My Dad said, "I don't think he's caught the spirit of the thing." I went and sat by him and tried to chat, but he wouldn't say a word. A little later, after some old cars had gone by, Summer came hesitantly up to him and said, "Anders, I saw your friend, Zippy, in the car." He didn't say anything for a good five minutes or so, and then, when he couldn't stand it anymore,  said to me "I don't even have a friend named Zippy!"
