New Friends

One of the best things about this move has been the new ward friends we've made. I don't know what other people do when they move to a new area. We went to church a couple of days after arriving and we had instant family. I have always said that it takes about a year to really feel a part of a ward, but here it takes about three weeks. People have invited us over, offered to babysit, given us real maple syrup, and gushed about our kids. I was called to be the Gospel Doctrine teacher the week I arrived. (My records were already there, and they knew of me through John.) The calling isn't a comfortable one for me, but it has made it easy for me to get to know the adults in the ward. I got permission to take Eli to scouts in another ward, since we don't have boys his age. The pinewood derby will be next week.

Anyway, here are pictures of my kids playing with a family in the ward. We love them. They moved here from Idaho a little over a year ago.
After playing, we ate mud cake for Groundhog Day. (I usually use green coconut for grass, but I don't have food coloring - so it's snow.)

And here's Maggie helping with dinner. (I've never been one to stress over safety. :)

The Church does provide almost instant friends when you move, with your same values, which is such a great blessing.
