We had a wonderful Christmas. In fact, I think it will be one of my favorites for a long time to come. The kids are old enough to be very enthusiastic about their gifts - Tori just squealed with delight over things. And they have played contentedly with their toys ever since then. We stayed with John's parents and they took very good care of us. It is very relaxing and fun for me to be there. On Christmas Eve, we fixed a traditional Guatemalan meal, which really took me back. We had ponche, jocon (chicken with a blended sauce of vegetables and seeds/nuts), tortillas, and black beans. We also bought some tamales, which is what they would have on Christmas Eve, but they weren't Guatemalan-style tamales. This is a picture of Tori helping her grandma cook.
Eli got several big Lego sets that he absolutely loves. He is so good at creating things with Legos. Tori's favorite things were her pink portable CD player and her "Princess and the Frog" nightgown. John made a princess CD for her, and I love to see and hear her as she sings along with the songs. Jonah enjoyed the act of opening the gifts more than the presents themselves, but he has had fun with the trucks and things he got. They all got too much, but it's hard to be moderate. Well, Maggie didn't get much. We've got way too many baby toys as it is. Some of these pictures are Christmas Eve, and some are Christmas morning. The last one shows Tori asleep with her headphones still on.
